The history of Heinfels Castle
Walls and towers connect in a unique way with the inhabitants of times long past on Heinfels. In 1210, the highest tower was built on the rock and marked a new dominion.
After the residential wing and the ring wall, the castle chapel was built in 1280. The hilltop castle was now in the possession of the once powerful Counts of Görz.
From 2016 to 2020, the extensive restoration of Heinfels Castle and the establishment of a museum took place.
All of this was only possible thanks to a joint and coordinated effort on the part of the Heinfels Castle Museum Association, the Province of Tyrol, the Federal Office for the Protection of Monuments, the municipalities of Alta Pusteria, the Loacker company and also the local population and businesses.
