The weapons gate
At the armoury gate, above the mighty round arched gate, there is a relief stone with a portrait of Maximilian III (Source: Hochosterwitz Castle Carinthia, G. Ulrich Großmann).
In the gate itself there is a side exit onto a small viewing platform. It is a very imposing and multi-storey gate structure.
The wall gate
The path from the armoury gate leads through the nearby wall gate. The gate walls of the Wall Gate are made of chlorite slate.
The bridge gate
The bridge gate with a drawbridge. The chain winch for the bridge is on the upper floor.
After the bridge gate, you reach another level of the castle, from where you look out over the magnificent Carinthian landscape to the east.
