Special tour The magic of materials - 17.12.2025
Magnificent locks, finely crafted keys and ornate boxes can be marvelled at in the Schell Collection. But have you ever asked yourself what materials they were made from?
The last special tour of 2025 is centred around the theme of the current special exhibition „The magic of materials. Fascinating materials and their use in ancient arts and crafts“.
In addition to object histories, the tour focusses on the materials and substances from which the exhibits in the Schell Collection were made. Supposedly everyday materials such as wood, iron or leather may yet surprise us and mysterious materials such as amber or mother-of-pearl reveal their secrets. Materials from the depths of the sea or stones from the bowels of the earth are brought to the surface and tell their stories.
When? Wednesday, 17 December at 16:30
Duration? approx. 1.5 hours
