Deanery Museum House

Digital tickets

The museum in the Zehentspeicher dating from 1490 explains a piece of history of the Upper Enns Valley: sacred art and culture. Fascinating pieces such as swallow pictures or orb letters bear witness to faith and superstition in times gone by.

The Deanery Museum

In retrospect, Haus developed into a central parish of the Upper Enns Valley, whose former sphere of influence extended from the Styrian-Salzburg border to St. Martin am Grimming and the Sölktäler.

In view of its importance in church history, Haus had the rank of a deanery - later also a district deanery. The hierarchy strengthened the people's esteem for their church, which, however, lost its significance due to the diocesan reorganisation.

Thus an institution developed - the Deanery Museum, which was to be a documentation of the development of the parish of Haus as a religious and cultural centre in the Upper Enns Valley.

From the intention to document the historical development of the former mother parish of Haus, a concept developed that gave rise to three main themes in the deanery museum: history, religious folklore and art history.

The collection area covers the area of the former mother parish of Haus, roughly the area of the Schladming-Dachstein region in today's terms.

Let the diversity of cultural life be revealed to you on this virtual tour of the Haus Deanery Museum and experience the Ennstal identity up close on your next real visit.
