In part one of this digital series, Natascha Gangl, writer, playwright, and director, joins Claudia Antonius, art educator at the Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien, explore the poetic significance of Matta's works and the unique language of his titles. Additionally, we learn how „The Cosmic Strips“ - sound comics for Roberto Matta, came into being.
Roberto Matta (1911-2002) is considered one of the most visionary painters of the 20th century. He not only left his mark on art history, but also significantly influenced numerous artists, including Arshile Gorky, Dorothea Tanning, Jackson Pollock and Robert Motherwell, or brought them to art in the first place.
